The below Shop Theft figures have been supplied by West Midlands Police to the Scarman Centre at Leicester University and are based on a Financial Year (April to May). They relate to reported shop theft’s in central Birmingham since 1997.

This shows a reduction of 48.1% in the amount of recorded Shop Theft incidents with
a detection rate of 83%.s
These figures prove beyond doubt the fact that the Birmingham Retail Crime Operation is having a major impact on shop thieves.
